Meet European Challenges
This conference on the soul of Europe takes place in the political heart of Europe and its main objective is to exchange views on the important challenges facing Europe – and in particular the European Union (EU) – and to share a common vision of develop the mission and the future of Europe.
In the light of the events of the last ten years, it seems that the future of Europe and the EU has never been so much the focus of attention and political debate as it is today. Overwhelmed by recurring economic crises, the influx of refugees, terrorism, intensified national egoism and shifting political landscapes, Europe is in the midst of a number of unprecedented social challenges.
The European Union’s efforts to build up an “ever closer union” based on solidarity between the Member States and the motto “united in diversity” are being put to the test. In the light of these events, the call for social renewal based on the social threefold rhetoric formulated by Rudolf Steiner a hundred years ago seems more relevant than ever!
However, the question arises how we can work with these ideas in the current reality and what human qualities we need to develop a sustainable and inclusive future in Europe and beyond. Moreover, how can we awaken the transforming power of the individual contribution?
The focus areas of the conference are therefore European cooperation and integration, whereby they are reconsidered from the perspective of the social tripartite rule.
Based on Europe’s cultural atmosphere and historic identity, we will examine current social challenges and cross-border democratic structures embedded in a globalizing economy.
As we look for new views on social issues, we want to make individual citizens more aware of our own contribution to the creation of the future of Europe.
If Europe succeeds in finding solutions for a united solidarity while respecting cultural diversity, this can contribute to a peaceful and stable world.
