Financing Innovative Clean Tech Conference
Financiers and industry representatives will gather in Brussels on 11 March 2020 to discuss how public and private investors can join forces with the Innovation Fund to deliver on the European Green Deal.
To become the first climate-neutral bloc in the world by 2050, the EU needs significant investment from both public and private sectors.
The Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programmes for the demonstration of innovative low-carbon technologies, pooling together around €10 billion from 2020 to 2030 to bring to the market industrial solutions to decarbonise Europe.
It is designed to shoulder an important share of the risks inherent to investing in this market segment, but cannot deliver this endeavour alone. Additional sources of financing, both public and private, will need to come into play to jointly deliver the technological revolution that Europe needs to make its economy climate-neutral.
Bringing together financiers and industry representatives, this event will raise awareness among the financial community about the business and investment opportunities the Innovation Fund offers.
Discussions will focus on:
- How public and private financiers can work together to scale up key innovative low-carbon technologies that Europe needs to reach its decarbonisation goals;
- Which technical and financial criteria matter for financiers when making an investment decision regarding clean tech projects with an innovative dimension;
- What are the best practices for structuring the financing of innovative clean tech projects, based on the specific risk profiles of different sectors and the maturity of technological solutions;
- How to mobilise experts from the private sector to work as evaluators of proposals for the first call of the Innovation Fund.
