CERRE 2019 White Paper Conference
As the negotiations for the EU top jobs are in full swing and the new Parliament takes office, it is time to consider the enormous challenges ahead. What should be the priorities of the new EU leadership for the energy, telecom, digital, media and mobility sectors? How should they tackle these? Can robust regulation fix the EU and help it regain trust from its citizens?
This high-level conference will present and discuss the CERRE White Paper 2019-2024 and its recommendations to the incoming European Commission and Parliament.
This detailed strategic agenda has been prepared in strict academic independence by more than 20 renowned academics. It gathers clear ambitions and actionable policy recommendations for the new European Commission and Parliament in the energy, digital, telecoms, media, platforms, and mobility sectors. They also provide input on overarching cross-sectoral issues.
The day will start with a roundtable investigating how robust regulation can help the EU regain trust from its citizens and reenchant its original values of respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law. Experts will then dive in their concrete policy recommendations for the energy, digital and mobility sectors in breakout sessions. The conference will end with a high-level trialogue to break the silos between those interconnected sectors and debate upcoming challenges with a cross-sector perspective.
Join key actors from the digital, energy and mobility sectors, including representatives from industry, regulatory authorities, EU and national policymakers, as well as academic experts for a day of debate on the challenges and priorities for the next EU leadership and CERRE’s academics recommendations on how to address these.
